Is your receding hairline making you lose your sleep? It shouldn’t. A research conducted recently claims that losing hair might actually work in your favour. According to a research conducted at the University of Pennsylvania, bald men are perceived as more attractive, confident, and dominant. The researchers came to this conclusion on the basis of three tests conducted in which college students had to rate men according to attractiveness, confidence, and dominance. They published the research results in a paper titled ‘Shorn Scalps and Perceptions of Male Dominance’.

In the first test, 59 students (out of which 39 were female) were made to participate where they were given photographs of a few men. Men with shaved heads were rated as more dominant than men with full heads of hair. In the second test, the researchers digitally removed the hair off the men, and they noted that men were perceived as 13 per cent more dominant, 6 per cent more confident, 10 per cent more masculine, and 13 per cent stronger than their authentic selves after the hair was digitally removed. This test involved 344 participants and, here too, more than half of the participants were women. The third test was conducted on 522 students where all the participants were given written and verbal descriptions of different men. And again, men with shaved/ bald heads were rated as more dominant and masculine than the men with hair on their heads.

“Instead of spending billions each year trying to reverse or cure their hair loss, the counter-intuitive prescription of this research to men experiencing male pattern baldness is to shave their heads,” the study reported.

So men, don’t let those bald patches take a toll on your confidence and embrace that receding hairline. A bald head might make you look a couple of years older, but it also makes you appear a lot more masculine and powerful which result in making you more desirable, especially among the opposite sex.
