Ganesh Acharya Lost An Unbelievable 85 Kgs In 1.5 Years! Here's How
Now that’s what you call inspiring! Take your cues here, ladies and gentlemen.
Weight is always a concern, and we spend much of our lives trying to achieve that magic number on the scales. But for some, like Bollywood’s National Award-winning chorographer Ganesh Acharya, the journey from fat to fit has been an arduous one. Given that he had to begin shedding weight at the 200 kg mark and work his way down to what was healthy and by his standards, acceptable, it was nowhere close to easy. The choreographer, who is best known for teaching Katrina Kaif to shimmy to Chikni Chameli and has choreographed other hits like Chamma Chamma, reached a point when dancing was no longer fun, thanks to his weight, so the buck stopped with him. He had to act.
The dancer-choreographer decided to put a stop to his weight gain when he hit the 200 kg mark. Over the last 18 months, he has worked systematically to shed a mammoth 85 kilos, and is yet to achieve his sweet number. How did he do it? A lot had to do with his decision to stick it out and make changes that worked. His exercise regime started with swimming and performing aqua aerobics, and regular workouts at the gym came next. He worked out obsessively, his goal in sight, and also took care to ensure that he did not consume any food post 8 pm. A healthy diet, coupled with rigorous exercise, helped him shed those initial kilos. Once the results started becoming visible, he was inspired to see the weight-loss journey through.
While he was forced to gain almost 40-50 kilos for his 2015 film Hey Bro, his weight began to make him uncomfortable. In addition to people fat-shaming him, his own self-image took a beating, and he wanted people to see another side of him. The desire to prove that he could do it and could look different fuelled his weight-loss saga. As a result of the weight loss, Acharya feels far more energetic, is able to focus on work, and dance and choreograph better. He has been recording vignettes from his journey on social media, and is likely to release a short YouTube video on his journey soon. Here’s to his new, fit life!
