Some say healthy skin is hereditary, and some people are just fortunate enough to inherit healthy skin. It’s partly true, there are a few blessed ones who can look drop dead gorgeous even when they wear no make-up. Besides genetics, there are so many other factors, which are directly related to beauty- the lifestyle you lead, the food you eat, the surroundings you are in, the pollution and dust level, good habits such as a healthy diet, and the right amount of water consumption.
So, what does it take to maintain your skin’s beauty? Not much. Just follow a standard protocol, without any compromises.
Cleanse face to remove make-up before sleeping
One has no idea about the amount of harm cosmetic products can cause, if one goes off to sleep without removing the make-up. No matter how tired you are, the first thing which needs to be done is removal of all make-up with a good make-up remover or cleanser. Cosmetic products contain chemicals many a time, and the chemical can adversely affect your skin while you sleep at night. This is why it is always advisable to remove all the make-up you are wearing, before going to bed.
Always keep your skin moisturised
A dry and dull skin is like a curtain which hides the beauty of a pretty face. So why not keep it moisturised at all times. A good skin moisturiser helps prevent dryness. Especially, during extreme winters and summers, dryness can occur very easily. The best time to apply moisturiser is before going to bed and after taking a shower; it helps retain moisture in the body, working towards bringing out radiant and glowing skin.
Use gel-based moisturiser for pimple-prone skin
If your skin is prone to pimples, due to reasons such as hormonal imbalance or body heat, it is advisable to use a gel-based moisturiser. Gel-based moisturisers suit all types of skin and are a safe option at all times to use, and help you get bouncy, non-greasy skin. These are loaded with vitamins and natural extracts with radiance-boosting botanicals.
Use sunscreen application 2-3 times a day
There is a common misconception that the only role of sunscreen is to prevent the skin from getting tanned. While this is partially true, this is not the sole purpose of using a sunscreen. It mainly protects the skin from harmful UV rays, which our skin comes in direct contact with. The SPF 25+, 30+, or 50, determine the protection required for the skin, and should be used according to your dermatologist’s prescription.
Use non-comedogenic products as make-up
You know what’s the best thing about wearing make-up? It hides your flaws. But if the products used by you, don’t suit your skin, it can become disastrous, causing rashes and long term effects, such as scars. There are certain ingredients which may not suit your skin type, and cause clogging of pores, and create further outbreaks.
For example, as a precaution, you should check your foundation by applying a slight amount on your skin, so that you get to know if it suits your skin type. If your skin is acne prone, it is important to check the ingredients, and avoid using products with a thick base and also the ones which contain strong and heavy fragrances, and alcohol.
