Diwali is synonymous with lights, joy, and celebrations. It’s the time of the year when every day is a cheat day. With sweets, food, and cocktails all around, it’s hard to not fall for the temptation, and frankly, it’s the festive season, no one should be denied the pleasure of all those lip-smacking Diwali feasts. However, at times, this Diwali binge can take a toll on your health and waistline.

If that’s the case with you, fret not, the damage can be un-done. Here are 5 tips that can restore your fitness levels and help you get out of the Post-Diwali Syndrome:

1. Drink a lot of water

Drink a lot of water
All those fried treats, sweets, and cocktails can leave you bloated and dehydrated. So, it’s very important for you to consume enough water. Since the weather has started to get cooler, you could also have warm water. Warm water doesn’t only help you detox, but also helps in melting the stored fat and flushing it out. Sipping on herbal teas throughout the day is also a great option to soothe your taste buds and mind during the detox spree.

2. Exercise

During Diwali, you might have missed out on many gym session just to attend a Diwali party or probably do ghar ki safai, but now it’s time to strictly adhere to your workout routine, or design one if you don’t already have it. Light and moderate-intensity exercises could easily be done at home, in case you’re looking to practise High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), I recommend, you only do it under the guidance of an expert.

Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables

3. Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables

Seasonal fruits and vegetables are extremely rich in nutrients and boost your immune system. When your immune system is strong and kicking, you’re more energetic, and your body burns more calories. Use fresh and organic spices to enhance the flavour of your food and fasten up the fat-burning process.

4. Try our ultimate detox drink recipe

This amazing detox drink with lemon, ginger, and turmeric will not only help with better digestion and improved liver function, it is also an effective anti-inflammatory drink, and can help with joint pain, lethargy, and yes, even weight loss. Have this detox drink on am empty stomach to reap maximum benefits.

5. Sleep well

Partying until the wee hours during Diwali might be one the reasons for you having put on extra weight during the festive season. When you’re sleep deprived, the level of Leptin hormone, responsible to make you feel full, goes down. As you feel hungry, more than you should, you eat more; this leads to an increase in weight. To avoid feeling hungry all the time, take at least 6-8 hours of sleep.

I hope these tips will prove helpful for you and you’ll incorporate them in your everyday routine, as well. Wishing you a happy, safe, and green Diwali!
