We Tell You The Connection Between Food And Sex

“ You may eat to feel better, or have sex to let off steam. Why not combine them?”

Ice cream and wine before. More wine, strawberries, and grapes whilst ‘at it’. Pepperoni pizza after. Why are my sexual food cravings like this? For the most part, I’ve never bothered to figure out why. The sensory fulfilment and the satisfaction of a need never left place for any thinking. Then it dawned on me – this itself was the answer. Food and sex are fundamental needs of human beings – and that's that!

We like to think that there’s some ‘logic’ as to how, why, and when we chase either/both needs. Really, the chasing is automatic. It's a primal, biological ‘programming’ in our collective consciousness as a species.

Science tells us that the limbic system, situated in the human brain, governs our emotions related to survival instincts. As hunger and libido are both instincts necessary for survival, it is but natural that connections between the two exist. Don't we all know someone who overeats when sad or stressed; or doesn't eat at all when angry, or when distracted by ecstatic thoughts of someone who is very likely to become the centre of their universe?

Connection Between Food And Sex

Food and sex are connected, when we attempt to experience the happy, lazy feeling of contentment/pleasure, using them both. You may eat to feel better, or have sex to let off steam. Why not combine them? The sensory ‘helpers’ – sight, touch, and taste – also contribute to the intimacy-building process. Take the personal examples I mentioned in the beginning:
  1. The wine is a bit of a no-brainer. I don't think I'm alone in depending on it for loosening the mental/physical knots of a stressful day. That's not really true though, is it? It's just to get the dirty talk going (you know it, *wink*). P.s.: Ladies and gentlemen, if using alcohol in the bedroom, don't ever be so drunk as to not realise you’ll be ruining your linen with the red wine! Go for white, or for champagne.
  2. Ice cream is one of my favourite ‘happy’ foods, especially a good quality Madagascar vanilla one. I love the fresh, clean taste, and the decadence of dipping into a massive tub of soft, smooth vanilla at will unleashes the libido, and plenty of imagery. Scientific explanations vouch for the aphrodisiac nature of vanilla; the calcium and phosphorus in the ice cream make orgasms more earth-shattering (who knew!).
  3. Strawberries and grapes are delicious, easy to eat/easy to crush, and great for magnifying the pleasurable effects of touch. Knock yourselves out as to how you can use them, or what else can replace them!
  4. Try a bowl of vanilla ice cream; dotted with blueberries, strawberries, and kiwi fruit, that have been left to steep in wine or champagne (with a touch of basil). Thank me later!
Connection Between Food And Sex

As for that pepperoni pizza – I still have no idea. But then again, I have my entire life ahead of me to figure it out.
