Nourishment is not just about eating the right kind of food. Make it a goal this year to sleep on time, spend time exercising, eat well and stay hydrated. A mantra like “Even though I (insert your problem), I deeply and completely love and accept myself” will help release the anxiety and negativity trapped in your body.  This technique hence focuses on making your emotional and physical body whole again.

The truth is that if you don’t stand up for yourself no one else will. While no one is perfect, if you learn to listen to your inner voice, reflect on the problems at hand, and stop being overly critical of yourself, you will find the emotions flow and with the right kind of self-encouragement you can move mountains.

A perfect way to boost self-love is by acknowledging who we are—complete with our shortcomings. Don’t try and change who you are in order to fit in a certain image or to feel secure about yourself. There are certain traits that make you unique, and you should love, value, and accept that with grace.


This year, love yourself a little by giving your emotions the space they need to blossom. Yes, there will be days when you feel like crawling into a hole or find yourself frustrated and anxious beyond belief, but know that these emotions are a normal part of life, and you should not love yourself less just because you fell short of your own (often warped) ideals.


If you look around you, you will realise that there is so much to be grateful for. While you may not have achieved some fantastic goal you set for yourself and maybe beating yourself up over it, you are likely to be in a better position than millions of others who are less fortunate, both financially and otherwise. Be grateful for what you have, your good health, and your loved ones. When you are grateful, you open the door for greater acceptance of your current situation and find yourself feeling in control and at peace.
