6 Ways To Stay Motivated While Losing Weight
Smooth paths seldom lead you to your #BodyGoals. Weight loss is a journey, where roads are rocky. It takes a great amount of zeal and determination to brave these roads, and not leave the journey midway.
If you are feeling a little lost recently, here are six ways to find your motivation to lose weight:
1. Establish a reason
It’s easy to lose sight of the goal when you don’t have a solid reason behind it. Establish a reason why you want to lose weight- to fit into that dress, for better sex, or just to a healthier version of yourself. Every day, repeat the established reason to yourself, and you’ll see a commendable difference in your approach.
2. Find a role model
Having a role model to look up to can be a great motivator on your weight loss journey. Your role model could be a celebrity the world swoons over or your neighbourhood aunty, anyone whose transformation inspires you. Try to know more about their journey, the challenges they faced, and what kept them going.
However, remember, every individual’s body and lifestyle is different. Don’t try to mimic their weight loss plan. Instead, consult an expert and get one tailor-made for you.
3. Reward yourself
All tricks and no treats, makes Jack lose his track. In order to stay motivated throughout your weight loss journey, it’s important to reward yourself every once in a while. Set small milestones, and reward yourself after you’ve achieved them. These rewards can be anything that makes you happy. Going out to movies, getting yourself pampered at a spa, or maybe having a few bites of those sinful brownies you’ve been resisting for a while.
4. Be flexible
It’s hard and almost impossible to stick to a routine to the T. So, if for some reason, you aren’t able to adhere to your weight loss plan for a short duration, don’t get disappointed. Instead, try to make adjustments.
Had a few extra calories? Work out a tad extra. Can’t find diet food? Have the available food in small quantities. It’s always better to move at a slower pace than to not move at all. Learn to maintain a balance, keep calm and never give up.
5. Find a companion
‘Partners-in-crime’ is a clichéd concept, find a partner-in-transformation (We’re so extra, aren’t we?). Having a companion who shares similar body transformation goals as you, is of a great help. Not only you can work out and share your diet food with them, but you can give each other that extra push and stay motivated throughout.
6. Show off
Humans are social creatures, who instinctively crave for social validation. ‘Share’ your accomplishments with your friends and ‘followers’. Receiving a positive response from them, will help you keep going.
Well, I know, we all bitch about people who bombard our feeds with their gym selfies, but kuch toh log kahenge. If you enjoy doing it, just do it (#NotSponsored).
Feeling the kick already? Well, before you pick your bag and hit the road (or gym), share this article with someone who needs to read it. After all, God helps those who help others (We told you, we’re extra, didn't we?).
