5 Ways to Prevent Cancer Naturally With Food and Exercises

Year after year, lakhs of Indians are distressed by cancer. On an average, more than 1,300 Indians yield to the dreaded disease every day.

As the number of new cancer cases in India is estimated to grow by 25% by 2020, according to the cancer registry released by the Indian Council of Medical Research, cancer is one of the most deadly diseases in India. With millions of dollars invested in research and medical professional’s working day in and day out, it is just a matter of time until a cure is found. Though there is an absence of a cure, but one can definitely reduce the risk of getting cancer by simply exercising and eating right.

These are the natural ways in which one can reduce the risk of getting cancer:


  1. Garlic
Garlic is a vegetable that belongs to the Allium class of bulb-shaped vegetation. Some of the characteristics of garlic that help in reducing the risk of cancer are its antibacterial properties, its ability to block the formation of cancer-causing substances. In addition, it also enhances DNA repair and reduces cell proliferation. Research shows that garlic helps in reducing the risk of getting breast, colon, oesophageal, and stomach cancers.



  1. Broccoli
Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable. It’s usually filled with strong cancer-fighting properties. Cruciferous vegetables come with antioxidants that can help kill cancer-causing free activists; they also contain compounds like glucosinolates and indole-3-carbinol, which have been successful in preventing cancer. There are many vegetables that belong to cruciferous vegetables category, but broccoli is special because it contains large amount of sulforaphane, a compound that boosts the body’s immune system. Research shows that broccoli helps in reducing the risk of getting breast, liver, lung, prostate, skin, stomach, and bladder cancers.



  1. Fruits (High In Vitamin C)
Fruits like oranges and berries (berries along with vitamin C possess phytonutrients that are helpful in fighting against cancer) which have vitamin C content, are extremely successful in reducing the risk of cancer. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant that helps destroy cancer-causing free radicals in the body. Research shows that vitamin C helps in reducing oesophagus, larynx, mouth, pancreas, stomach, colon, and breast cancers.



  1. Physical Exercise
Along with a healthy diet, physical exercise helps in battling cancer. Various health experts recommend that, adults must engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity, 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity, for substantial health benefits. One can choose any activity ranging from going to the gym to playing a sport like football, basketball, cricket, or even dancing. Research shows that physical exercise helps in reducing the risk of colon and breast cancer.



  1. Be Active
This option is for people who have busy schedules and do not find the time to exercise. One can be more active by just changing certain habits like climbing the stairs instead of taking the lift, walking short distances instead of driving a car, walking around in office during breaks, doing household work on the weekends et cetera.
