Men have thicker skin and larger pores, as compared to women. Their sebum (oil) producing glands are also generally more active. So cleaning your face with a good face cleanser is what you need.
Please don’t wash your face with a bar of soap, and definitely not with one that you use for the rest of your body. Different parts of your skin have different pH levels. If you are more comfortable using a bar of soap instead of a liquid cleanser, then make sure that it contains some glycerine or vitamin E.
Step 2 – Exfoliate
Exfoliating thrice a week is a great way to keep your skin soft. Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the skin’s surface, to reveal the new skin cells beneath. It also helps clean out the dust and grime that can get lodged in your pores.
A scrub normally contains micro granules, which act as gentle exfoliators, and slough off dead cells. One advantage of exfoliating is that it softens hair follicles, making possible an easier and a less irritating shave. Exfoliation eliminates the dullness from your skin, and leaves your face looking brighter.

A good moisturiser helps replenish the moisture content, and prevents razor burns too. If you don’t use a moisturiser, the chances of your skin ageing faster and drying out are extremely high. So invest in one that suits your skin type. Dry-skinned people should use a thick, cream-based moisturiser, while oily-skinned people should opt for a gel-based lotion.
Step 4 – Hydration
Water! Water! Water! We can’t stop telling you how important that is for your skin. For great-looking skin, you need to stay hydrated on the outside, as well as on the inside. You should be drinking a minimum of 8-10 glasses of water a day.
Also keep a tab on the number of cups of caffeine you down in a day, along with your alcohol consumption. Both dehydrate you quite a lot, so counter the effects by drinking enough water.
Step 5 – Sunscreen
The sun’s UV rays are more damaging to our skin than anything else. These rays speed up the ageing process, slow down collagen production, and dry out the skin. We recommend using an SPF 30 sunscreen, which blocks both UVA and UVB rays, even in the winter.
The winter’s sun rays are actually harsher on our skin than those of the summer.
