Menstrual bleeding is considered irregular if it occurs more frequently than every 21 days or lasts longer than 8 days.

  • High stress levels:
    When your body is under a lot of stress, for example in case of a traumatic event, your body can start to conserve energy by preventing ovulation. 
  • Improper diet:
    A poor diet low in nutrients and yet high in stimulants (like artificial additives) can tax the adrenal glands and thyroid, and cause irregular periods.
  • Over-exercising:
    Exercising too much can put excess pressure on your adrenal, thyroid and pituitary glands causing periods to stop suddenly or become scanty.
